About the project

The charming Linden Hills Library serves residents of Southwest Minneapolis and nearby Edina. It was built in 1931 under the direction of nationally known library director Gratia Countryman, who was instrumental in expanding the city’s library system in 1904-36. The library has received historic designation from the City of Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 2023 preservation project will include repair of exterior windows, brick, and stone, and replacement of the slate roof.
