On Monday, January 21 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), Hennepin County libraries are closed.
Golden Valley Reads has selected “Vacationland” by Sarah Stonich as the 2018 community read. The community is invited to read the book, attend free events, and meet new friends and neighbors during the program, August-October.
Chosen as a community read in a dozen Midwestern cities, “Vacationland” was a Minnesota Book Award finalist in 2014. The first in a planned trilogy, the novel explores the tales of love and loss, heartbreak and redemption that live on in the hearts of those whose paths crossed at the now-shuttered Naledi Lodge in northern Minnesota cabin country. The sequel, “Laurentian Divide,” will be released in September 2018.
In its third year, Golden Valley Reads is a joint venture between the City of Golden Valley and Golden Valley Library, seeking to encourage the Golden Valley community to read one book together each year.
“Vacationland” is available from the library as a print book and eBook. A limited number of lending copies may be picked up at Golden Valley Library beginning July 1. Contact the library for additional information.
All Golden Valley Reads events are free and open to the public. Events take place at Golden Valley Library, 830 Winnetka Ave. N., unless otherwise indicated.
