Pride at libraries this June

Be proud at your library

Join us throughout the month of June as we celebrate Pride with free Pride events for adults, teens and families.

Library events lead up to and complement the Library’s participation in the annual Twin Cities Pride Festival in Loring Park, Minneapolis, on June 22-23. Visit our booth in the Family and Children's Area from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. Drop by to get a special edition Pride-themed library card, LGBTQIA+ book lists and more. We also will be marching in Sunday's parade.

Pride month is celebrated each year during the month of June in cities large and small across the country and beyond. June was selected as the month to celebrate Pride to honor the Stonewall uprising that occurred in June of 1969 in Greenwich Village in New York City. This marked when the gay rights movement was energized to emerge and fight for human rights in the 1970s into the present day.
