Vinyl Revival artist in residence this September-October at Minneapolis Central Library, DJ Kool Akiem is a renowned DJ of 20 years, music producer and pioneer of the Twin Cities hip-hop community.

As DJ and producer, Kool Akiem has toured nationally and internationally and produced critically-acclaimed albums released on notable record labels. He pushes the boundaries of DJ technology itself with inventive modifications of audio equipment. Akiem taught History of Hip-Hop at McNally Smith College of Music, currently serves on the COMPAS teaching artist roster, and mentors youth and emerging artists.
