We Are Richfield – Charcoal and Oil Pastels Portraits

Monday August 24-Wednesday, September 30

We Are Richfield is a community art project where participants will share personal stories about their lives in Richfield through a variety of arts and culture workshops. In this particular program, participants will be guided through the process of using charcoal or oil pastels to draw a portrait. There will also be a tutorial on lettering for those who wish to include words or phrases in their portrait.

The classes, designed by and featuring local artists, will be available to view at one’s leisure on Hennepin County Library’s YouTube channel (link will be provided starting August 24.) DVDs of the classes may be requested by those without internet access. If you need a DVD, please write "DVD" after your last name when registering.

All materials will be provided by the library, while supplies last. Materials kits will be available for pick up at the Augsburg Park Library starting Monday, August 24, and we ask that the portraits be completed no later than September 30. We ask that supplies be returned to the library so additional community members may also participate in the project.

We also ask that you “lend” us your finished portraits for about a week so we can scan them. They will then be displayed both in the library and on our social media. Register online or Ask Us.
