League of Women Voters 100th anniversary exhibit at Maple Grove and Brooklyn Park libraries
The League of Women Voters (LWV) was founded on February 14, 1920. Since it was founded, the LWV has attracted members focused on realizing the potential of our democracy.
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the Brooklyn Park, Osseo, Maple Grove League of Women Voters is holding two significant events in conjunction with Maple Grove and Brooklyn Park libraries, as well as an exhibit that will be housed at Maple Grove Library and then will move to Brooklyn Park Library.
Renowned author and civil rights activist, Dr. Josie Johnson spoke about her experiences over 50 years of work with the League on civil and voting rights at Maple Grove Library on January 23.
On February 6, the exhibit will move to the Brooklyn Park Library where we will celebrate our history with a talk by Gillian Rosenquist, a League member and City Council member of Golden Valley. She will speak on Minnesota Women Leaders of the Suffrage Movement, 6:30-7:30 p.m. The exhibit concludes on February 20.
