Books that moved us in 2020
We polled library staff and social media followers about the best books they read in 2020.
The books that staff loved in 2020 include some favorites published in previous years and some new titles from 2020.
“Mexican Gothic” by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and “All Systems Red” by Martha Wells were mentioned by multiple staff among the fiction picks. “Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky” by Kwame Mbalia for children and “Elatsoe” by Darcie Little Badger for teens were also selected by several staff as their favorite reads this year. Enjoy this mix of new books, old favorites, and titles staff finally had time to read.
We also asked our followers on Facebook and Twitter for their favorite books of 2020. These lists contain books that came out in the last year.
Brit Bennett’s “The Vanishing Half” and Yaa Gyasi’s “Transcendent Kingdom” were top fiction favorites. For nonfiction, we got multiple recommendations for Isabel Wilkerson’s “Caste.”
