Eden Prairie Library design update
This summer, planning for the Eden Prairie Library renovation continues. Based on community input and library and county staff feedback, project architect MSR is refining and expanding the initial designs.
A primary goal is for the library to be a dynamic hub and resource for the community. A new meeting room, intended to support hands-on learning, crafting and making, will be available for the public and also used by the library’s Teen Tech Squad and other programming.
The main area in the center of the library will serve a variety of uses. Patrons will have access to the library collection and computers, with flexible furniture that can be moved around to accommodate pop-up programs, displays and more. Comfortable seating will surround a fireplace along the west side of the library, and access to outdoor space will be improved.

The project will also address identified infrastructure and building system improvements needed for longevity and code compliance, including:
- Updates to HVAC and electrical systems; lighting upgrades to improve energy efficiency
- Exterior building shell repairs and site improvements such as paving surfaces and site drainage
- Technology system upgrades and replacement of materials handling equipment
Currently, Eden Prairie Library is scheduled to close this winter and reopen in fall 2019.
