Hosmer Library will close for renovation in spring 2018 and is scheduled to reopen by the end of the year. Plans for the renovation are taking shape following community meetings with the public, library staff and project architects, Leo A Daly.
The building’s historic character will be carefully retained, with interior spaces updated for increased flexibility and improved access to library services.
The renovated entry will increase connectivity between the library’s main floor and the lower level. Children’s and teen areas will be relocated to the front of the building, with more space for kids and enhanced features to support library programs for teens.
Meeting spaces of various sizes on both floors will be available for the public and will also accommodate library programs. Over 40 public computers will be available on the main floor.
The lighting and acoustics will be improved throughout the building. Outdoors, patrons of all ages will enjoy a learning garden.
