Southdale Library community meeting, survey to shape building project
Join library staff and project architects on Monday, May 21, 7-9 p.m. to learn more about the new Southdale Library and provide feedback about green space, parking, and library services.
Public input is also being collected through an online survey through June 1.
At this stage in the project, we are looking for continued community input on the priorities identified during last year’s site development workshops hosted by the City of Edina. At those meetings, the community shared values for:
- Excellent access for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists
- Connections to outdoor space and adjacent parks and trails
- Library services that support children, youth, families, adults and seniors
- A strong library collection
At the May 21 meeting, community members will be asked about those areas in more detail to further inform the design. At a second meeting on Saturday, September 22, 10 a.m.-noon, project architects will share preliminary concepts for the new library incorporating community feedback. (This meeting was originally scheduled for July 23, but has been postponed.)
Construction of the new library is currently scheduled to begin in mid-2019.
