New Southdale Library planning continues, community meeting on September 22

On June 7, four Southdale site development options were presented to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. The county staff recommendation is for the library and parking area to occupy roughly 4 acres of the 7.74 acre-site. The remaining property would be available for future development. For more information about the site development options, view the Hennepin County Board Briefing slides (PDF).

Planning for the new library continues this summer. Join library staff and project architects on Saturday, September 22, 10 a.m.-noon, at Southdale Library to review preliminary concepts based on community input collected to date. (This meeting was originally scheduled for July 23, but has been postponed.) All are welcome; participation in previous planning meetings is not required.

Construction of the new library is currently scheduled to begin in fall 2019.
