The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners approved an initial design for renovations of Southeast Library. Design work will continue and staff will issue a request for proposals for construction work.
Renovations will begin in fall 2018 and cost an estimated $11.6 million. The project will improve the building's infrastructure, offer increased patron access and renovate the lower level of the library, which is currently closed due to its deteriorating condition.
The library will close during construction and is currently scheduled to reopen in fall 2019.
