On Monday, January 21 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), Hennepin County libraries are closed.
At the community meeting on February 13, project architects presented information about the design for the renovated Southeast Library.
Approved by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners on February 6, this initial design focuses on improving the building’s infrastructure, offering increased patron access and renovating the lower level of the library, which is currently closed.
After the renovation, the lower level will feature an area for youth and families as well as collaborative study and commons spaces for students and patrons of all ages. Additional stairways and an elevator will provide access to the lower level.
Throughout the library, patrons will have access to a variety of quiet seating, flexible meeting spaces, and areas to use personal devices or library computers. Exterior spaces will also be improved with new outdoor seating.
