About the art
As you enter the front doors of the Linden Hills Library, you’ll pass under the stained-glass art of local artist Phil Daniel, which mixes a variety of abstract influences—think Mondrian, De Stijl—with the Prairie style. And if you look closely, you’ll find an inscribed quote from George Peabody: “A debt due from present to future generations.” The 19th-century philanthropist was referring to education, and the words form a fitting gateway into the library’s expanse of information within.
