About the art
This artwork melds old and new, mixing the traditional art of stained glass with a more modern, abstract design that calls to mind a cog or a Native American dream catcher. (As artist Phil Daniel describes it, it’s an “anime take on a classic Rose Window.”) If you lean in for a closer look, you’ll also see a literary layer to the artwork. Words by C.S. Lewis, Rudyard Kipling and others have been delicately etched into the mouth-blown glass—all favorite quotes and poems submitted by library patrons.
