About the art
A companion piece to “Charlie Read (Time Out Boy),” Paige Turner came to the Plymouth Library a couple years later in 2001. Initially named “Bookworm II”, she was also given a new name by the children of Plymouth Library. In keeping with the work of sculptor Gary Lee Price, these pieces are meant to inspire and uplift the human spirit.
Artist statement
“She is holding a large book, her hand placed at the top eager to turn the page. Her expression shows serenity yet excitement as she ventures into this book with many more yet to come. A zest for knowledge that has been triggered by the wonderful world of reading. Learning is fun!”
