Vulture and Lion

About the art

Local artist Seitu Jones grew up in North Minneapolis and first learned to read at Sumner Library, so it seems fitting that several of his artworks should now be featured in the same library that helped stoke his early creativity. Here, this ink and charcoal drawing features a surprising meeting of the minds, as the vulture and lion see eye-to-eye.

Artist statement

“I’ve aspired to create environmental artwork that honors, communicates to and inspires communities. I feel very strongly that art can be a source of neighborhood pride as well as a tool for social and cultural development.”
