The Hennepin County Library Board met Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Brooklyn Park Library, Mississippi Meeting Room, 8500 W Broadway Ave, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445.

Call to Order
President Jessica Kraft called the meeting to order at 5:31p.m. and welcomed attendees.
Attendance of Library Board Members
Library Board Clerk Lillian Albrecht took roll call and the Board met quorum with nine board members present.

Meeting minutes of the May 15, 2024, meeting, and donations.

Public Comment

Commendations
Kraft highlighted library nominees and recipients of two Hennepin County Employee Recognition Awards. For the Disparity Reduction Award, Martha Hardy was honored as the library award winner for the Video Conference Room Project.
For the Innovation Award, Serena Edinger-Wilson was honored as the nominee and the Osseo Self Service Project Team was honored as the library award winner. Osseo Self Service Project members include Cindy Anderson, Michael Boe, Paula Connolly, Jennifer Dahlen, Elizabeth Dammar, Kat Debertin, Reyzl Grace, Amanda Greene, Emmamarie Haasl, Samantha Jekot-Graham, Amy Kennedy Fosseen, Patti Hetrick, Paula Huttner, Amy McNally, Elizabeth Menigo, Peter Miller, Sharon Noble, Vicki Quach, Brenda Reeder, Ian Reinl, Steve Richter, Stella Riker, Laurie Stieg, Jenn Straumann, Ann Woodson-Hicks, Chee Xiong, Dillon Young, and Kathryn Zimmerman.
President’s Report
President Jessica Kraft highlighted upcoming Hennepin County Library and Friends of the Hennepin County Library events featured in Board packets.
Kraft requested that any Board member interested in attending the Minnesota Library Association annual convention this October notify the Board Clerk by August 1. The conference is to be held in Rochester, Minnesota.
Kraft updated the Board on the Library Board Conference Fund, stating there is $10,000 remaining in this year’s conference budget.
Director’s Report
Library Director Scott Duimstra discussed Library, Community, and County updates. These included service statistics, National Association of County Awards received by Hennepin County, and recent media engagements.
Library Youth Advisory Board Report
The Library Youth Advisory Board gave their annual update to the Board. The Youth Board overviewed their process of contacting local schools to encourage youth engagement with library resources. They further informed the Board of next steps to develop an outreach plan and youth specific programming.
Committee Reports
The Executive Committee’s next meeting is August 8, 2024, 5:30-7:30pm at Ridgedale Library, Robert H. Rohlf Room.
The Budget and Long-Term Planning Committee’s next meeting is August 21, 2024, 5:30-7:30pm at Ridgedale Library, meeting room 174. Library Director Scott Duimstra provided a short update on the ongoing hiring process for the new Chief Financial Officer for the library.
The Policy Committee’s next meeting is August 14, 2024, 5:30-7:30 at Ridgedale Library, meeting room 174. They will continue to review the Collection Development and Management Policy.
The Friends of the Hennepin County Library ex officio Jane Brissett shared that the organization is continuing to update their strategic plan and clarify individual chapter responsibilities.
