The Hennepin County Library Board met on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Call to Order

Chair Adja Kaba called the Hennepin County Library Board meeting of September 21, 2021 to order at 5:30 p.m. and welcomed all in attendance.

Public Comment

The board received one public comment from a resident of Hennepin County.

Library Dialogue

Library staff member Ali Turner, Community Engagement Manager gave a presentation on the new Library Youth Advisory Committee.

President’s Report

President Adja Kaba shared a Hennepin County update related to COVID-19 attestation.

Director’s Report

Director Chad Helton spoke to the Library Board on Library, Community, and County Updates.

2022 Budget Presentation

Chief Financial Officer Patti Hetrick presented on the 2022 Budget.

The board voted to recommend the 2022 budget to the County Board.

2021 Policy Review Discussions

Board members discussed the second read of the Reserving & Using Library Rooms Policy and the Patron Use of Library Spaces Policy, presented by the Policy Committee Chair. The Board voted on the Reserving & Using Library Rooms Policy and Patron use of Library Space Policy.

Committee Reports

Upcoming programming from Friends of Hennepin County Library includes Pen Pals and Bookfair events.

The Budget Committee have no new updates.

The Policy Committee have completed the review of the 2021 policy schedule. All 2021 library policies have been voted on by the board. The committee has no new updates.
