The spacious two-story North Regional Library in north Minneapolis was built in 1971 and completely renovated in 2007. Previously, the community was served by a library in North High School in the 1890s and then for many decades by North Branch Library at 1834 Emerson Avenue North.

Hennepin County Library will adopt a new service schedule, adding weekend and evening hours across 31 locations.

The general contractor continues to make substantial progress. Interior demolition is complete and was followed by the framing of new walls. The project was estimated to be 28% complete as of June 1.
