Southdale Library community meeting planned for December 7

Members of the public are invited to attend a community meeting at Southdale Library Saturday, December 7 at 10 a.m. to get an update on the project timeline, see the most recent design plans and renderings, and learn more about plans for the closure.

Updated timeline

The design development phase of the project is progressing. Key aspects of the development include site planning, plaza design, and a focus on maximizing sustainability across both exterior and interior design.

The timeline for the Southdale Library new construction project has been adjusted and the building is now set to close in early January 2025. An official closing date will be shared when it is available.

Hennepin County is finalizing its plans for making Southdale’s physical collection available during the closure. Temporary and recommended service locations will be included in the upcoming closure announcement.
