About the art
This watercolor painting by library patron Doug Lew shows a sweet scene befitting its location: a mother-daughter book club. The artist plays with light and color as he celebrates the connection that comes from sharing a world of imagination and learning. The piece also memorializes a particular teen book-lover, Christie Blackwood; it was installed in 2006 on what would have been her 16th birthday.
