About the art
This pastel piece by local artist William Saltzman is an artistic island floating amid the calligraphy of Diane von Arx, which states: “The larger the island of knowledge, the greater the shoreline of wonder!” A vivid study in blues and greens, the pastel shows swirling sky above cresting ocean waves, pairing with the words to convey the depth, expansiveness and adventure of learning.
